OPC for Databases
If you simply require database recording and historical trend replay then
OPCDatabase is a more cost effective choice.
OPC for DB is an OLE for Process Control client developed with Visual Basic using the OPC
Automation Interface 2.0. This OPC client was developed to transfer values
to OPC and databases in both directions. The default application can
support up to 16 different DSN connections, 8 in and 8 out. An 8 hour demo
of this data routing application can be download here
which supports high speed asynchronous event driven
communications.
By developing several custom OPC clients using Visual
Basic, OAS has perfected the implementation of high-speed connections with low
CPU load. Database interface is implemented using OLE-DB so that any
database of choice supporting ADO can be used. The default application
example comes with Microsoft Access database example to transfer any number of
OPC Item values to up to 8 different databases, and transfer values from up to 8
different databases to any number of OPC Items.
The source code for this application can be purchased from Open Automation
Software or one of the qualified distributors. The application provides an open development solution to OPC
high-speed communications with low overhead. The source code
example simplifies the connection to the OPC Automation Interface 2.0 and OLE-DB
providers using ADO. OPC Automation interface provided with installation of
application along with ODBC setup for Microsoft Access.
